Stewards spoke to Mr Jason Wickham, the trainer of the greyhound Slingshot Sassy, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners soon after the start. Slingshot Sassy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the left hind metatarsals, no veterinary stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Slingshot Sassy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Wickham pleaded guilty to the charge, Slingshot Sassy was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Ms Norma Gost, the trainer of Joe Panther, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Joe Panther last raced on 25 September 2017. Ms Gost stated that  the greyhound was returning to racing following an injury to the right hock.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Jason Wickham, the trainer of Fine Edge, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Fine Edge last raced on 27 July 2017. Mr Wickham stated that the greyhound had changed kennels. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Fine Edge trialled over the 400m from box one, weight 27.2kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of four. The time of the trial was 23.12, the greyhound beaten by a margin of 7.5L. Fine Edge was not cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Chris Armstrong, the trainer of Fish Armo, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Fish Armo last raced on 20 February 2017. Mr Armstrong stated that the greyhound had an extended spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Fish Armo trialled over the 400m from box three, weight 25.3kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 23.12, the greyhound beaten by a margin of 7.6L.
