Poppy Pete was quick to begin. Tiempo Dinero, Little Big Shot and Go Commando were slow to begin.
Tiempo Dinero and Little Big Shot collided soon after the start. Slinky Inky and May Haze collided soon after the start. Little Big Shot, Slinky Inky and Go Commando collided on the first turn. Slinky Inky galloped on the heels of May Haze on the first turn, checking Little Big Shot and severely checking Tiempo Dinero, Slinky Inky and May Haze, causing Tiempo Dinero to stumble and Slinky Inky to fall. Poppy Pete checked off Invictus Rapid on the second turn.
Slinky Inky was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left sartorius (pencil) muscle and a spike wound to the right hind leg. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.
