Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Ennis, the handler of Mighty Hazza regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mighty Hazza last raced on 10th November, 2017. Mr. Ennis stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after a extended spell.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr. G. Gledhill, trainer of Blazin' Ruby, for his late arrival at the kennels to present the greyhound for kennelling pursuant to GAR 31(1).
Bob's Hammer and Short Leash were slow to begin. Ace Allen, Evil Pedro and Blazin' Ruby collided soon after the start checking Evil Pedro. First Responder and Short Leash collided approaching the first turn checking First Responder. Bob's Hammer and Ace Allen collided approaching the first turn severely checking Bob's Hammer and Short Leash. Short Leash and Evil Pedro collided approaching the home turn. Bob's Hammer clipped the heels of Short Leash approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Ace Allen galloped on the heels of Blazin' Ruby in the home straight.
Short Leash was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to its left hind toe. No stand down period was imposed.
Evil Pedro was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to its left hind leg. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
