Steward's Report
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Rocky Road and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 5:17pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr. R. Hayes was fined the sum of $100.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Klondike Gold and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 5:19pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr. R. Hayes was fined the sum of $100.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. R. Hayes regarding the late scratching of his greyhounds, Rocky Road and Klondike Gold due to weight variation. Mr. Hayes stated that he had changed the greyhounds diet and exercise regime recently. Mr. Hayes also stated that he does not weigh his greyhounds prior to racing and will do so in the future. Stewards noted Mr. Hayes explanation.
Stewards spoke to Mr. N. Jarvis, the trainer of Fair Ride regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Fair Ride last raced on 15th December, 2017. Mr. Jarvis stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after being on season and a spell.
Fair Ride was a late scratching at 7:41pm due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24). A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
Why Not Dean was slow to begin. Why Not Dean, Calvin Candie and Girt By Sea collided soon after the start checking Calvin Candie. Why Not Dean and Girt By Sea collided approaching the first turn. Girt By Sea, Dark Star and Why Not Dean collided on the first turn. Dark Star and Girt By Sea collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.
Stewards noted that the muzzle of Why Not Dean became dislodged during the running of the event.
Calvin Candie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left triangle muscle. No stand down period was imposed.
