Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Bigtime Raider.
Acey Boy was slow to begin. Fairy Where checked off Select Opal approaching the first turn. Bigtime Raider galloped on Fairy Where on the first turn severely checking Fairy Where, Bigtime Raider and Acey Boy. Select Opal failed to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight checking Thank Me Later.
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Bailey, the trainer of the greyhound Select Opal regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Select Opal was vetted and after being re vetted following the event it was reported that the greyhound sustained a left monkey muscle injury and a left hind triangle muscle injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Select Opal with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Bailey pleaded guilty to the charge, Select Opal was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Meeting Comments:
Stewards spoke with Mr.S.Creighton after a complaint was made regarding an alleged incident in the car park. Stewards accepted Mr.Creighton’s explanation and took no further action.
