Destini Firefox was quick to begin. Dyna Bella and Deadly Basilisa were slow to begin.
Destini Firefox, Nettie's Flame and Gunmetal Jake collided soon after the start checking Nettie's Flame and Gunmetal Jake. Nettie's Flame, Gunmetal Jake and Limburg Will collided approaching the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Nettie's Flame and Gunmetal Jake collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Deadly Basilisa and Dyna Bella collided on the first turn checking Dyna Bella. Dyna Bella and Jen's Magic collided on the first turn checking Jen's Magic and severely checking Dyna Bella. Gunmetal Jake and Nettie's Flame collided on the first turn checking Gunmetal Jake. Gunmetal Jake faltered on the first turn. Nettie's Flame, Deadly Basilisa and Destini Firefox raced wide on the home turn.
Stewards spoke to Mr J. Formosa, the trainer of the greyhound Gunmetal Jake regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Gunmetal Jake was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Gunmetal Jake with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge, Gunmetal Jake was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
