Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Crawford the trainer of Cherokee Shimmer, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Cherokee Shimmer last raced on 9th October 2017 Mr. Crawford stated that the greyhound was returning to race from a seasonal spell.
A pre-race sample was unable to be taken from Cherokee Shimmer, a post race sample was subsequently taken.
Don's Bobcat was quick to begin. Montana Fernando was slow to begin. Casper's Fantasy, Touch Of Silk, Dellmo and Good One Carl collided soon after the start checking Touch Of Silk. Good One Carl checked off Dellmo approaching the first turn. Casper's Fantasy crossed to the outside on the first turn checking Casper's Fantasy, Cherokee Shimmer and Don's Bobcat. Casper's Fantasy eased on the first turn checking Don's Bobcat. Casper's Fantasy and Cherokee Shimmer collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight checking Oriental Tarj and Don's Bobcat and severely checking Casper's Fantasy and Cherokee Fantasy. Cherokee Shimmer and Touch Of Silk raced wide in the home straight.
Stewards's spoke to Mr. T. Churchill, the trainer of Casper's Fantasy regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Casper's Fantasy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right triangle muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Casper's Fantasy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Churchill pleaded not guilty to the charge. Casper's Fantasy was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
