Steward's Report

Track Curator Mr. T. Dempsey advised stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on 30th August 2017.

The start of this event was delayed approximately 1 minute due to Carnavron Gallops race 7 running behind schedule.

Kaelyn Bale and For Valour were slow to begin. He's Not Shifty checked off Crocodile Dunphy soon after the start. Kaelyn Bale checked off For Valour approaching the first turn. Kaelyn Bale eased approaching the first turn. Cruisy's Angle checked off Gray Bale approaching the first turn. Crocodile Dunphy checked off Cruisy's Angle on the first turn, checking Crocodile Dunphy. Cruisy's Angle, Cruising Stella and He's Not Shifty collided approaching the home turn, severely checking He's Not Shifty. Cruising Stella checked off Crocodile Dunphy entering the home straight.

Kaelyn Bale was vetted following the event and re-vetted following event three. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A sample was taken from Gray Bale - the winner of the event. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Loverso, the handler of the greyhound Kaelyn Bale regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn.  Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Kaelyn Bale with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Loverso pleaded guilty to the charge, Kaelyn Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
