The commencement of this race was initially delayed due to operational matters and further delayed to avoid a clash with a Ballarat Harness race.

Stewards spoke to Mr J. Borg, Trainer of Van Ann regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Van Ann last raced on 22 July 2017.  Mr Borg stated that the greyhound was returning from a fractured fibula.

Winnie Allen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right calf, right back muscle and right hamstrings, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Ms C. Heinrich, the Kennel Representitive of Winnie Allen.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Winnie Allen with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Ms Heinrich pleaded guilty to the charge, Winnie Allen was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a),  before any future nomination will be accepted.
