A pre-race sample was taken from Don Lesta.
Don Lesta, Amelia Christa and Myrniong Blaster were slow to begin. Myrniong Blaster, Ruby Cabang and Amelia Christa collided soon after the start checking Ruby Cabang. Scott Finesse, Kraken Mazing, Gold Vein, Beejay's Lass and Don Lesta collided approaching the first turn checking Beejay's Lass and severely checking Gold Vein.
