Stewards questioned licensed Catcher, Ms Tamara Cornell and registered Trainer, Mr Simon Barker (representing Trainer - V Weisener), following the failure of greyhound, Rurik, being caught for this event.  After taking evidence from both Ms Cornell and Mr Barker, Stewards charged Ms Cornell pursuant to GAR 86(o) for negligently failing to catch the greyhound at the conclusion of the event.   Ms. Cornell pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended for one month, effective midnight 26 November 2017.  Stewards, in determining their decision, took into account the previous history of Ms Cornell's failure to catch greyhounds on a number of occasions.

It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right sartorius (pencil) muscle, a ten-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Splash Of Blue with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Selkrig pleaded guilty to the charge, Splash Of Blue was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Octo Flash trialled over the 350m from box one, weight 27.3kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of four. The time of the trial was 19.70, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5L. Octo Flash was cleared.
