The closing time of Kennels was delayed by approximately 8 minutes due to a Trainer experiencing car problems en route to the track.

Penny Black, Ice Cold Yug and Emerley Mee Too were slow to begin.  Ray's Wish and Newtown Flyer collided on the first turn checking Ray's Wish, Newtown Flyer and Emerley Mee Too.  Emerley Mee Too raced wide as a result.  Penny Black galloped on the heels of Calabrese Bullet on the first turn checking Calabrese Bullet, Ice Cold Yug, Knuckles and Flying Queen.  Penny Black and Flying Queen collided approaching the home turn.  Ice Cold Yug checked off Calabrese Bullet approaching the home turn.  Penny Black and Flying Queen collided on the home turn.  Ice Cold Yug and Knuckles collided in the home straight.

Flying Queen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right monkey muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Oozing Mojo and Flowering Rose were slow to begin.  Oozing Mojo crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Big Kenny Bobo and Ants In Pants collided soon after the start.  Ants In Pants, Rythym Taboo and Always Alone collided on the first turn checking Ants In Pants and Rythym Taboo.  Ants In Pants and Oozing Mojo collided on the first turn checking Oozing Mojo which contacted the running rail as a result.  Big Kenny Bobo and Alina Grand collided on the home turn.  Big Kenny Bobo and Rythym Taboo collided in the home straight checking Rythym Taboo.  Alina Grand raced wide in the home straight.

Oozing Mojo was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left foreleg, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Deano's Smidge.

Whitney Showgirl, All About Corey and Light The Track were slow to begin.  Ruby Red Eden and Deano's Smidge collided soon after the start checking Deano's Smidge.  All About Corey and Deano's Smidge collided on the first turn checking Light The Track.  Ruby Red Eden crossed to the outside in the back straight.  Whitney Showgirl checked off Light The Track on the home turn.

Ruby Red Eden was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right sesamoid and right triangle muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. E. Johannsen, the representative of Ruby Red Eden regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the back straight. Stewards also consulted with Dr. B. Backhoy, the on course Veterinarian, who was of the opinion that Ruby Red Eden's injuries most likely contributed to the greyhound racing unusually wide at this stage, resulting in the greyhound borking to avoid contacting the outside fence of the track. Stewards noted these opinions and took no further action. 

Stewards spoke to G. Carter, the trainer of Why Not Dawn regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Why Not Dawn last raced on 8 June 2017 and is returning after season spell. Mr. Carter also declared a new weight of 28.3 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Why Not Dawn last raced at 27.0.

Hello Bomber was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left wrist, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Akina Dee Jay, Mahaya, Boil Over and Off Ya Rocket collided soon after the start checking Mahaya.  Akina Dee Jay and Boil Over collided approaching the first turn.  Boil Over checked off Off Ya Rocket on the first turn checking Akina Dee Jay, Mahaya and Boil Over causing Mahaya to race wide as a result.  Boil Over checked off Off Ya Rocket on the home turn.  Mahaya raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Clarke regarding the direction that the greyhound Totally Fab be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.

Shanlyn Pippin, Jimmy Vella and She's Got Dash were slow to begin.  Shanlyn Pippin and Ultimate Conor collided approaching the first turn checking Shanlyn Pippin.  Ultimate Conor galloped on the heels of Shirley Bass on the first turn, checking Ultimate Conor, Big Bubbles, Shanlyn Pippin and She's Got Dash, severely checking Shirley Bass.  Jimmy Vella and Ultimate Conor collided approaching the home turn checking Shanlyn Pippin and Ultimate Conor.  Shanlyn Pippin galloped on the heels of She's Got Dash on the home turn, severely checking both greyhounds.  She's Got Dash raced wide in the home straight.

She's Got Dash was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left wrist, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Blue Afro and Paua To Avoid collided soon after the start.  Phillip Keeping and Tooka Half collided approaching the first turn, severely checking Blue Afro and Phillip Keeping.  Paua To Avoid and Tooka Half collided on the first turn, severely checking Tooka Half.  Botanic Lass checked off Pacific Impulse approaching the home turn.  Beluga Diamond and Botanic Lass collided on the home turn and again in the home straight checking Botanic Lass.

Botanic Lass was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right toe, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Ishmy Girl, Myrniong Cosmo and Blue Reef were slow to begin.  Poppy Pete and Black Eclipse collided soon after the start.  Zulu Zoe and Ishmy Girl collided soon after the start.  Myrniong Cosmo and Doc's Reward collided approaching the first turn.  Zulu Zoe, Black Eclipse and Blue Reef collided on the first turn.

To The Galo's and Le Sands collided soon after the start.  Dozer Tron and Tricky Trey collided approaching the first turn.  Adam Handler checked off Le Sands on the first turn checking Tumble And Dry.  Dozer Tron raced wide in the home straight.  Tumble And Dry and Tricky Trey collided approaching the winning post.

Burnsy's Sam and Emi's Boy Murph collided approaching the first turn.  Gee Callan galloped on the heels of Apple Cyder approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Buckle Up Jem and Apple Cyder raced wide in the home straight.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Luna Evening engaged in this event on 25 September 2017 pursuant to GAR 79A.

A pre-race sample was taken from So Far Away.

Jetmag Storm was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Freedom Fire and Daisy Patch were slow to begin.  Freedom Fire and So Far Away collided on the first turn checking So Far Away and Roshani's Dream, severely checking Luna Evening, causing Roshani's Dream to race wide as a result.  Daisy Patch and Roshani's Dream collided entering the home straight checking both greyhounds.

A pre-race sample was taken from Riverside Kim.

Fiesty Ivy was quick to begin.  He Shall Peter was very slow to begin (4 lengths).  Mystic Powers, Nitro Hook and Coolan Man were slow to begin.  Coolan Man clipped the heels of Nitro Hook approaching the first turn.  Mystic Powers and Nitro Hook collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Nitro Hook which stumbled.  Good Odds Jet and Rhyan's Return collided on the first turn.  Rhyan's Return and Mystic Powers collided approaching the home turn.  He Shall Peter raced wide approaching the home turn.  Good Odds Jet raced wide approaching the home turn checking Rhyan's Return and Mystic Powers.  Mystic Powers crossed to the rail entering the home straight, severely checking Coolan Man.  He Shall Peter raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr J. Hardy, Trainer of Mystic Powers, regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound.  Stewards directed that Mystic Powers be boxed first in future events.

Meeting Comments:

Stewards were advised by track curator T. Godfrey that the track was rotary hoed on Thursday 21 September 2017.

Satisfactory Trials results - Nareen trialled over the 311m from Box 8, weight 29.5kg, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 18.22, the greyhound won by a margin of .25.  Nareen was cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Graham, the trainer of Woodleigh Girl regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Woodleigh Girl last raced on 1 March 2017 and is returning after a seasonal spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Woodleigh Girl trialled over the 311m from Box 5, weight 25.8kg , the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 18.22, the greyhound was beated by a margin of 3.25 lengths.  Woodleigh Girl was cleared.
