Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Cairo Calling.

Bulldog Warrior and Beanbag were slow to begin.

Why Not Jojo, Kalani Klare, Coolan King and Sir Richard collided soon after the start checking Why Not Jojo and Sir Richard.  Kalani Klare, Coolan King and Cairo Calling collided on the first turn checking Kalani Klare.  Sir Richard checked off Cairo Calling on the first turn. Kalani Klare, Coolan King and Cairo Calling collided on the second turn checking Kalani Klare, Cairo Calling and severely checking Coolan King and checking Why Not Jojo as a result.  Beanbag and Oppie Bale collided several times in the home straight.  Oppie Bale marred Beanbag in the home straight.

Oppie Bale was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left monkey, right trapezius and left front spike wound, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr B. Pursell, the representative of the greyhound Oppie Bale regarding the greyhounds racing manners in home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Oppie Bale with marring. Mr Pursell pleaded guilty to the charge, Oppie Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
