Steward's Report
This event was hand started.
Bekim Fire was a late scratching at 6:23pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. J. La Rosa was fined the sum of $100.
Urana Vee Eight was slow to begin. Queen Yuan and Illusionary collided soon after the start. Tee Cee Benny and Crazed Blaze collided soon after the start. Tee Cee Benny and Who Took Johnny collided on the first turn causing Tee Cee Benny to contact the running rail. Happy Tails checked off Who Took Johnny approaching the second turn. Illusionary checked off Queen Yuna entering the back straight. Tee Cee Benny and Who Took Johnny collided several times on the third turn checking Tee Cee Benny, Happy Tails, Crazed Blaze and Urana Vee Eight and severely checking Queen Yuna and Who Took Johnny. Crazed Blaze eased and collided with Happy Tails in the home straight checking Crazed Blaze.
Urana Vee Eight was vetted and re-vetted following event 8. It was reported that the greyhound suffered thumps and a slow recovery. A stand down period of 3 days was imposed.
Tee Cee Benny was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Mundy, the representative of the greyhound Crazed Blaze regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Crazed Blaze was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a minor superficial spike wound to the left fore leg, no day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Crazed Blaze with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Mundy pleaded not guilty to the charge, Crazed Blaze was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
