Top Weight was a late scratching at 6:25pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to illness. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Ms K.Bentley trainer of Ultimate Rattler declared a new weight of 27.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Ultimate Rattler last raced at 28.9kg.
Ultimate Rattler, Buntine Express and Ginza Lion were quick to begin. Kraken Manager and Budge were slow to begin. State Of Oasis checked off Ginza Lion soon after the start. State Of Oasis and Escalate collided several times approaching the first turn. Kraken Manager and Ultimate Rattler collided approaching the first turn checking Ultimate Rattler. Buntine Express checked off Kraken Manager on the first turn. State Of Oasis and Budge collided on the first turn. Kraken Manager and Escalate collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. State Of Oasis and Budge collided on the home turn. State Of Oasis, Budge and Escalate collided in the home straight checking Budge. State Of Oasis and Escalate collided in the home straight. Buntine Express marred the running of Ginza Lion in the home straight.
Ultimate Rattler was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right shin soreness, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Buntine Express was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right sesamoid injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr J. Smith, Representative of Buntine Express. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Buntine Express with marring. Mr Smith pleaded guilty to the charge, Buntine Express was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
