Steward's Report
Moraine Ava – Late scratching at 1.45pm due to weight variation (GAR 101). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr G Judd was fined $100. A sample was taken from the greyhound post scratching.
A pre–race sample was taken from Bert Deeds.
Low Maintenance and Maybe Spaghetti were quick to begin. True Airspeed was slow to begin.
Happy Anna (eased approaching the home turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left shoulder muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr P Franklin regarding Happy Anna’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Happy Anna was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr P Franklin pleaded guilty to the charge. Happy Anna must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Mortlake Hustler the winner of the event.
