Purple Storm went up with the lids at box rise. Jaggered checked off Amelie Otis soon after the start. Aston Orazio and Zipping Burns collided approaching the first turn. Purple Storm, Aston Orazio, Zipping Burns and Grawlix collided approaching the first turn. Jaggered and Amelie Otis collided approaching the first turn. Purple Storm, Aston Orazio, Zipping Burns and Grawlix collided on the first turn; checking Purple Storm, Aston Orazio and Zipping Burns; severely checking Grawlix, which fell as a result; checking Jaggered. Purple Storm and Aston Orazio collided approaching the home turn, checking Purple Storm. Purple Storm and Amelie Otis collided on the home turn.
Grawlix underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the muzzle and a right foreleg latissimus dorsi/trapezius muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
