Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, provided satisfactory evidence of vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination (workers) directions, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Hailey Lainey was quick to begin.

The announcement of the All Clear was delayed to allow the Stewards to review the race footage to ascertain as to whether any greyhound was checked after the lure made contact with a bird in the home straight.  After viewing the footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards were entirely satisfied that no greyhounds were materially affected by the incident and the All Clear was posted.

Our Shout was quick to begin.  Aston Ziebel and Shadows Fall were slow to begin.

Mini Dimmy checked off Tomida on the first turn and contacted the running rail; checking Mini Dimmy and Corn And Caviar   Octavia Bale and Aston Ziebell collided on the first turn; Octavia Bale brushed the running rail as a result.  Mini Dimmy checked off Corn And Caviar approaching the home turn.

Mini Dimmy underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hindleg paw injury.  A five day stand down period was imposed.

Kenzie Bale – Late scratching at 4:39 pm when Ms Andrea Dailly reported the greyhound to have lameness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Zara's Ivan was quick to begin.  Fabriola Yanis was slow to begin.

Ximena Bale and Demon Flyer collided on the home turn.  Mepunga Mantra and Ximena Bale collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight.

Rock On Jimmy and Crumb Snags were slow to begin.

Mick's Kimmy and Crumb Snags collided soon after the start, checking Mick's Kimmy.  Emani Bale and Moraine Izzy collided approaching the second turn.  Crumb Snags and Moraine Izzy collided on the third turn and again approaching the home turn.  Forever A Dream and Rock On Jimmy raced wide in the home straight.

Steal Your Style and Funky Felix were slow to begin.

Limburg Rapid, Trending Power, Blackpool Bart and Zippy Yamaha collided approaching the first turn.  Trending Power galloped on the heels of Limburg Rapid on the first turn; checking Limburg Rapid, Trending Power, Blackpool Bart and Funky Felix.  Funky Felix checked off Limburg Rapid on the home turn.

Toby Castle was slow to begin.

Short Tyson, So Predictable and Boom Out were slow to begin.

Acting in accordance with the GRV Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended at 9:17 pm due to torrential rain, lightning and thunderstorm activity within the designated safety zone around the Geelong venue.  Due to safety concerns the meeting was delayed twenty nine minutes and races re–scheduled accordingly.  All races were amended to the following times: Race 8 - 9:46 pm; Race 9 - 10:08 pm; Race 10 - 10:27 pm; Race 11 - 10:46 pm and Race 12 - 11:02 pm.

Prior to the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track following heavy rainfall in the area and were satisfied it was satisfactory for racing.

El Cazador was slow to begin.

Nera Enough, Zippy Zenvo and Fabriola Duran collided approaching the first turn, checking Zippy Zenvo.  Fabriola Duran checked off Wioletta Bale approaching the first turn.  Nera Enough, Wioleta Bale and Fabriola Duran collided on the first turn; checking Nera Enough and Zippy Zenvo.  Wioleta Bale and Fabriola Duran collided on the home turn; checking both greyhounds.

Aston Samba was quick to begin.  Reiko Flash was slow to begin.

Cruising Ruby underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Innocent Gem and Who Did That collided soon after the start.  Denzell Bale, Miss Cosmic Lee, Maverick Nacho and Quintana Bale collided on the first turn; checking Miss Cosmic Lee and Maverick Nacho.  Miss Cosmic Lee checked off Who Did That approaching the home turn, checking Innocent Gem.  Innocent Gem faltered on the home turn and pulled up.

Innocent Gem underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg hock injury.  A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track on the home turn and were satisfied it was satisfactory for racing.

Far Out Frankie was slow to begin.

Oh Mary and Aunt Finnie collided on the first turn; severely checking Aunt Finnie, which stumbled and lost considerable ground.  Gleaming checked off Mr. Bent Lee on the first turn.

Aunt Finnie underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury.  A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Mepunga Mustang underwent a veterinary examination after kennelling due to the greyhound leaving the track at Sandown on Thursday, 21 October 2021 without being vetted.  Mepunga Mustang was found to have an injury to the right hindleg triangle injuiry.  A seven day stand down period was imposed.
