Steward's Report
All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of boxing, starting, and catching greyhounds.
A sample was taken from Blue Spot at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.
A sample was taken from On Pursuit at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.
Fernando Dusty was quick to begin. Storm Raptor was slow to begin.
Blue Spot and Fernando Dusty collided soon after the start. Blue Spot, On Pursuit and Fernando Alessia collided on the first turn. Fernando Dusty and La Spezia collided on the first turn. Blue Spot and On Pursuit checked off the heels of Fernando Alessia on the first turn and collided with Jessie's Brew; checking Reiko Haze, On Pursuit and Jessie's Brew. Blue Spot turned its head out and visably eased in the home straight.
Blue Spot underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right foreleg stopper injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Darren Fisher regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Blue Spot was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge, Blue Spot was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from La Spezia - unplaced in the event.
