Sugar Freak and Moonlight Jack were slow to begin.
Sugar Freak stumbled soon after the start. Boo Boo Billy and Vans Turbo collided approaching the first turn, checking Boo Boo Billy. Boo Boo Billy and Vans Turbo collided on the first turn, checking Vans Turbo. Vans Turbo and Moonlight Jack collided approaching the home turn, checking Vans Turbo. Inga Linda and Moonlight Kiss collided several times in the home straight.
Sugar Freak underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Vans Turbo underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A five day stand down period was imposed.
