Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Cawbourne Marto on Tuesday, 21 December 2021 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Red Impact – Late scratching at 1:41 pm due to non–arrival (GAR 31). A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Mr Jeff Galea informed Stewards that he had a vehicle breakdown on–route to the track. Stewards advised Mr Galea that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours of the occurrence that caused the non–arrival. The matter will be re–evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.
Reality Infrared and Cawbourne Marto collided soon after the start, checking Reality Infrared. Rigg, Smoking Sophie and Mr. Holyfield collided on the first turn. Mr. Holyfield clipped the heels of My Name's Karen approaching the home turn; checking My Name's Karen; severely checking Smoking Sophie, which stumbled. Cawbourne Marto, Reality Infrared and My Name's Karen collided on the home turn; checking My Name's Karen and Cawbourne Marto.
Smoking Sophie underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
