Steward's Report
Flying Jelly – Late scratching at 1.40pm on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a torn nail to the left front foot. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Red Hot Lady was quick to begin.
Mazikeen Smith and Alcindor collided soon after the start. Red Hot Lady, Mazikeen Smith, Alcindor, Impending, Sierra Foxtrot and Roxy Smirnoff collided approaching the first turn checking Sierra Foxtrot. Red Hot Lady checked off Impending on the second turn checking Sierra Foxtrot. Sierra Foxtrot raced wide in the back straight. Impending checked off Roxy Smirnoff on the third turn. Alcindor and Roxy Smirnoff collided in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr. John Burch, trainer of Alcindor, after reports were received of poor conduct and inappropriate language behind the boxes. Acting in accordance with GAR 86(q), Mr. Burch was charged with engaging in conduct which is detrimental to the image of greyhound racing. Mr. Burch pleaded guilty to charge. Stewards issued Mr. Burch with a fine of $1000.00 with $500.00 wholly suspended for 24 months pending no further behavioural offences. Stewards also imposed a fine of $100.00 that had previously been suspended from an offence on the 02/01/2022.
