Steward's Report

All persons attending today undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, checked in, observed social distance requirements, and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 31.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 15.9 degrees.  The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr J. Mangion regarding the scratching of Top Plain, as the scratching has afforded an empty boxes in the event. Mr Mangion explained that Top Plain was a scratching due to a left wrist injury. Mr Mangion explained that the greyhound would likely take at least 10 days to recover from the wrist injury. Stewards noted his explanation.

Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr G. Dainton regarding the scratching of Dookie Devil, as the scratching has afforded an empty boxes in the event. Mr Dainton explained that Dookie Devil was a scratching due to being a heat affected meeting. Mr Dainton explained that in his opinion that the greyhound was a first starter and had trialled the greyhound previously in the heat and the greyhound a slow recovery. Stewards noted his explanation. 

After Affair was slow to begin. Jackpot Joan and Diversify collided soon after the start and again on the first turn checking Diversify which tailed off as a result.

Diversify underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right monkey muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
