Steward's Report
Miss Belle – Late scratching at 10:52 am under GAR 37(4) on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian after the greyhound was found to be infested with fleas. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance stating the condition no longer exists before any future nomination will be accepted.
Inga Harry and Reiko Cleo were quick to begin.
Moonlight Jack and Lyrical Dad collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn; checking Moonlight Jack. Lily Jane, Lyrical Dad and Fritter collided on the first turn; checking Lily Jane and Fritter. Lyrical Dad visably eased in the home straight and turned its head out towards Inga Harry; checking Moonlight Jack and Inga Harry.
Lyrical Dad underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left hindleg pad. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative, Ms Tahlia Hodge regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B(1), Lyrical Dad was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Hodge pleaded not guilty to the charge, Lyrical Dad was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B(1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
