Steward's Report

Xylus Bale was quick to begin. Still Learning and Cambria Bale were slow to begin.

Gracie's Joy and Ximena Bale collided soon after the start. Verdun Bale and Gracie's Joy collided soon after the start. Xylus Bale and Jagger's Lady collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Xylus Bale checked off Jagger's Lady approaching the first turn checking Still Learning. Xylus Bale, Still Learning and Gracie's Joy collided on the first turn checking Xylus Bale, Still Learning and Cambria Bale. Still Learning and Gracie's Joy raced wide on the home turn. Verdun Bale turned it's head inwards entering the home straight. Verdun Bale visibly eased and turned it's head inwards approaching the winning post checking Jagger's Lady and Ximena Bale. 

Verdun Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Representative Mr J. Formosa declined to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Formosa regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Verdun Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge, Verdun Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
