Verdun Bale turned it's head inwards entering the home straight. Verdun Bale visibly eased and turned it's head inwards approaching the winning post checking Jagger's Lady and Ximena Bale. 

Verdun Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Representative Mr J. Formosa declined to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Formosa regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Verdun Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge, Verdun Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Painkiller and Fleetwood Sam collided soon after the start checking Fleetwood Sam. Limburg Argon and Aston Galaxy collided soon after the start. Painkiller, Limburg Argon, Aston Galaxy, Pirate Tails and Jackie Boy soon after the start checking Weblec Wave, Painkiller, Limburg Argon, Aston Galaxy, Pirate Tails and Jackie Boy. Aston Galaxy underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainers request and was found to have a fractured toe on the left hind paw. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Aston Colossus underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left back muscle and had cramped. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp) Aston Colossus must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Trainer Mr. P. Abela indicated it was his intention to retire the greyhound.
