Steward's Report
Staying and Elarbee Mercury were quick to begin.
Mepunga Hayles and Mr. Deeds collided soon after the start, checking Mepunga Hayles. Stalking Shadow checked off Aston Falcon approaching the first turn. Elarbee Mercury, Staying, Swift Ability, Aston Falcon and Nova Star collided on the first turn; checking Staying, Nova Star, Swift Ability, Stalking Shadow, Aston Falcon and Mr. Deeds; causing Staying, Nova Star, Swift Ability, Stalking Shadow and Aston Falcon to lose ground. As a result of this collision Staying visably eased and turned its head out towards Nova Star. Mr. Deeds and Swift Ability collided approaching the home turn, checking Mr.Deeds which eased as a result, turning its head out towards Swift Ability. Mr. Deeds checked off Swift Ability approaching the home turn. Aston Falcon and Nova Star collided approaching the home turn causing Aston Falcon to brush the running rail.
Mr. Deeds underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr G Anders regarding the racing manners of Mr. Deeds aproaching the home turn. After hearing evidence from Mr G Anders, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Stewards took into account the significant interference in the running of this event.
Staying underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Colin Kelly, the trainer of Staying regarding its performance on the first turn. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71 Staying must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards took into account the significant interference in the running of this event.
Nova Star underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
