Nevaeh Bale and Big Alfie were quick to begin.
Our Ando and Spring Driven collided soon after the start. Tiger Time and Aston Marla collided approaching the first turn. Tiger Time and Tapering Off collided approaching the first turn. Aston Marla checked off Spring Driven on the first turn. Our Ando and Nevaeh Bale collided approaching the home turn. Spring Driven checked off Tiger Time approaching the home turn; checking Tapering Off and Aston Marla; causing Spring Driven and Big Alfie to collide; severely checking Big Alfie, which lost ground; Spring Driven fell as a result.
Spring Driven underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right hindleg abrasions and back muscle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Big Alfie underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
