A pre-race sample was taken from Cawbourne Wolf.
Grand Warrior and Harsh Jude were slow to begin.
Rockstar Harley and Saint Destructor collided approaching the first turn. Saint Destructor and Grand Mac collided approaching the first turn. Bourne Maximum checked off Double Up approaching the first turn; causing Bourne Maximum and Cawbourne Wolf to collide; checking Grand Warrior, Harsh Jude and Saint Destructor; causing Harsh Jude and Saint Destructor to lose ground. Bourne Maximum and Grand Mac collided approaching the home turn. Bourne Maximum, Grand Mac and Grand Warrior collided on the home turn. Grand Mac checked off Bourne Maximum in the home straight. Harsh Jude and Saint Destructor collided in the home straight.
Grand Mac underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the right foreleg above stopper and right hindleg on metatarsals. No stand down period was imposed.
