Gregarious and Josie Wags were quick to begin.
Where's Goose and Maximum Coco collided soon after the start, checking Maximum Coco. Aston Trump and Zipping Vin collided soon after the start. Zipping Vin checked off Kraken Rover approaching the first turn. Gregarious and Josie Wags collided approaching the first turn. Aston Trump and Zipping Vin collided approaching the first turn. Kraken Rover and Dark Stormy collided on the first turn; checking Dark Stormy, Where's Goose and Maximum Coco; causing Maximum Coco to stumble and lose ground. Maximum Coco contacted the running rail approaching the home turn.
Maximum Coco underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wound and right hindleg toe injuries. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
