Resurgence and Spirit Energy collided soon after the start checking Resurgence. Cool And Deadly and Weblec Star collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn. Midoriyama and Resurgence collided approaching the first turn. Resurgence checked off Aston Vogue on the second turn checking Spirit Energy and Whakahoro; Whakahoro and Weblec Star raced wide as a result. Midoriyama galloped on Galloping Run on the third turn checking Galloping Run, Midoriyama and Resurgence. Whakahoro galloped on Midoriyama entering the back straight checking both greyhounds.
