Steward's Report
All persons attending the venue today carried face masks, observed social distance requirements, and maintained room density quotients for the race meeting.
Rush Riccarton was quick to begin.
Comb Over Mullet and Zipping Randy collided soon after the start. Confirm shifted in soon after the start checking Zipping Randy and colliding with Rush Riccarton. Confirm crossed to the rails on the first turn checking Rush Riccarton and Comb Over Mullet. Zipping Randy and Zipping Jazz collided on the first turn. Comb Over Mullet checked off Underworld on the second turn and collided with Rush Riccarton, checking Rush Riccarton, Zipping Randy and Zipping Jazz. Rush Riccarton and Zipping Randy collided on the third turn checking Zipping Jazz and severely checking Rush Riccarton. Underworld marred Confirm in the home straight.
Underworld underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Daniel Pell regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Underworld was charged with marring. Mr Pell pleaded guilty to the charge, Underworld was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Confirm - the winner of the event.
