A pre-race sample was taken from Lady Kin Lee.
Spolly James and Shifty were quick to begin.
Parumba Rebel, Big Baccala, Floppy Roo and Hurricane Pete collided soon after the start. Spolly James and Shifty collided on the first turn checking Lady Kin Lee and Spolly James. Floppy Roo and Hurricane Pete collided on the first turn severely checking Hurricane Pete which faltered and lost ground. Lady Kin Lee, Spolly James and Parumba Rebel collided on the home turn. Floppy Roo raced wide on the home turn.
Hurricane Pete underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle injury. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
