Fawkner Park and Big Plans were slow to begin. Hasta Manana and Big Plans collided soon after the start, checking Big Plans. Woke Up Late, Magic Panther, Hasta Manana and King Brown Trav collided on the first turn, checking Woke Up Late, Magic Panther and King Brown Trav. Fawkner Park and Hasta Manana collided approaching the home turn, checking Hasta Manana.
Burner Black underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined at 6:30pm, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr L. Green regarding its performance in the event. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Burner Black must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
