A pre-race sample was taken from Barefoot Barry.
Inga Leo, Blackpool Storm, Black Hawk Jet and Barefoot Barry collided soon after the start, checking Black Hawk Jet. Lalina and Got Me Smarty collided approaching the first turn. Lalina and Blackpool Storm collided on the first turn; severely checking Blackpool Storm, causing Lalina to fall as a result.
Lalina underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left foreleg monkey muscle and cervico-thoracic injuries. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
