Mt. View Ginger - The frequency of racing was discussed with trainer, Mr T Whitford, his comments were noted.
Killer Miss, Mt. View Moon and Olivia Twist were slow to begin. Olivia Twist checked off Waikerie Bandit approaching the first turn; severely checking Waikerie Bandit and Killer Miss. Mt. View Ginger galloped on the heels of Play A Tune entering the home straight. Play A Tune checked off Waikerie Bandit in the home straight.
Olivia Twist underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right wrist, right hock and spike wound injuries. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Play A Tune underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left hindleg toe abrasions and spike wound injuries. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr N Wynd regarding the racing manners of Play A Tune on the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. After hearing evidence from Mr Wynd, viewing the inconclusive video footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued.
A post-race sample was taken from Waikerie Bandit - the winner of the event.
