Steward's Report
The traditional 2-wave (odds then evens) boxing process has been re-instated for all races in Victoria from Tuesday 10 November 2020. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face masks that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Give Me Elle - Late scratching at 17:11pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a right hind sesamoid injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Dark Pearl - New declared weight of 27.8kg, last raced at 26.0kg.
Westar Ivan, Dark Pearl and Rocky Point were quick to begin. Daph's Farrah, Tinker To Burn and Big Alfie were slow to begin.
Tinker To Burn and Big Alfie collided soon after the start. Westar Ivan and Dark Pearl collided on the first turn. Westar Ivan and Daph's Farrah collided several times on the first turn. Westar Ivan, Daph's Farrah, Tinker To Burn and Dark Pearl collided on the first turn checking Tinker To Burn and Dark Pearl. Big Alfie and Rocky Point rushed in the home straight. Brindi Yaala visibly eased in the home straight. Brindi Yaala and Tinker To Burn collided in the home straight.
Brindi Yaala underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left deltoid injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr A. Welsh, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Brindi Yaala was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Welsh pleaded guilty to the charge, Brindi Yaala was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Big Alfie - the winner of the event.
