Steward's Report

Dyna Virion - Late scratching at 17:10pm on the advice of the On-Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to pyrexia. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke with trainer Ms Cassendra Jayakody with regard to the circumstances surrounding the late scratching of the greyhound, noted the trainers advice and further ordered a veterinary certificate of fitness pursuant to GAR 20 (3) (v) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Gotham Duke and Sharky Shark were quick to begin. Mepunga Spectre was slow to begin.

Mepunga Spectre and Sharky Shark collided on the first turn. Aussie Secret galloped on the heels of Sharky Shark on the first turn. Gotham Duke visibly eased and shifted out colliding several times with Coco Nova approaching the home turn; both greyhounds raced wide as a result.

Gotham Duke underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right monkey and the right thigh muscles, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mrs M. Lithgow, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Gotham Duke was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs Lithgow pleaded guilty to the charge, Gotham Duke was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Yozo Bale - the winner of the event.
