Viral Bale was quick to begin.  To Dee Black, Karagiozis and Maverick Blondie were slow to begin.  Karagiozis and Maverick Blondie collided approaching the first turn.  Oh Kay Reg checked off Just A Taste approaching the first turn checking Karagiozis and causing Oh Kay Reg to stumble.  Oh Kay Reg and Karagiozis collided approaching the second turn.  Just A Taste checked off Viral Bale on the third turn.  Maverick Blondie checked off Gypsy Goddess on the third turn.  To Dee Black galloped on the heels of Just A Taste approaching the home turn checking To Dee Black and Karagiozis.

Monkira, Alpha Leva Keato, In This Way and Warranty were slow to begin.  Uno Whirl, Alpha Leva Keato and In This Way collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn checking Monkira, Uno Whirl and Alpha Leva Keato.  Rockin' Josie and Kraken Cassy collided entering the front straight checking Kraken Cassy and Pepe's A Knocka.  In This Way and Pepe's A Knocka collided in the front straight.  Warranty and Pepe's A Knocka collided approaching the third turn and again on the third turn checking Pepe's A Knocka.  Alpha Leva Keato and Warranty collided in the back straight.  Kraken Cassy checked off In This Way in the home straight.

Bourbon Club was quick to begin.  Polished Steel and Classic Nitro collided soon after the start.  Noble Haste, Deli Allen and Rick Fern collided on the first turn.  Baldacci, Polished Steel and Noble Haste collided on the first turn checking Rick Fern and severely checking Noble Haste.  Ballisitic Fire and Bourbon Club collided approaching the second turn.  Baldacci checked off Rick Fern on the third turn.  Baldacci and Noble Haste collided approaching the home turn.  Baldacci and Classic Nitro collided on the home turn.  Ballistic Fire and Bourbon Club collided in the home straight.

Baldacci was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to it's right monkey muscle.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Pilbara Gold was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Zipping Casper was slow to begin.  Hankos, Dr. Portia and Zealot Bale collided soon after the start checking Dr. Portia and Zealot Bale.  Dr. Portia, Zealot Bale and Emma Belle collided approaching the first turn checking Dr. Portia and Zealot Bale.  Dr. Portia and Emma Belle collided approaching the second turn.  Zealot Bale raced wide entering the back straight.  Pilbara Gold raced wide in the back straight.

Zealot Bale was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to it's left shoulder and left triceps.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Where's Steamy, El Roscoe and Dello Bale were slow to begin.  Better Punk and Where's Steamy collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn.  Where's Steamy checked off Better Punk on the first turn.  Better Punk crossed to the outside on the first turn checking Better Punk and Tiger Toy.  Zafonic Zjahdi and Where's Steamy collided on the third turn.

Zafonic Zjahdi was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Kuban Kangaroo went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Woleebee Lad, Sisco Flyer and Ghost Roaster were slow to begin.  Viv Tudor and Quiver Bale collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Viv Tudor, Woleebee Lad, Kuban Kangaroo and Ghost Roaster.  Viv Tudor checked off Kuban Kangaroo on the third turn.  Kuban Kangaroo checked off Sisco Flyer approaching the home turn.

Meeting Comment

Stewards were informed that the track was harrowed on Tuesday 15th April 2014.

Supplementary Report - The Meadows 12th April 2014 Race 8

Mr. W. Vassallo, the trainer of Closing Time reported via his Veterinary Surgeon that the greyhound appears to have a type of infection with further tests to be conducted. Stewards noted the explanation provided by Mr. Vassallo.

Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Keel, the representative of the greyhound Closing Time regarding the greyhound's performance being below market expectations.  Mr. Keel also indicated that he was disappointed with the greyhound's performance however he was of the opinion that the injuries sustained maybe more serious.  Stewards will follow up with the trainer of Closing Time, Mr. W Vassallo in coming days pursuant to GAR 75 regarding any matter that may have affected the greyhound's performance in this event.
