Steward's Report
Winston Bale – Late scratching at 9:18am when Mr. C. Grenfell reported the greyhound to have a left hind toe injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr B. Grenfell and noted his explanation for the late scratching.
Maximum Jodie and Alvira were quick to begin. Riverdale Shine was slow to begin.
Inga Lewis checked off Filoga Bale on the first turn. Can't Spell and Riverdale Shine collided approaching the home turn, checking Can't Spell. Absolute Scenes and Inga Lewis collided on the home turn and again in the home straight, checking Inga Lewis. Filorga Bale marred the running of Alvira several times in the home straight. Maximum Jodie, Alvira and Filorga Bale collided in the home straight.
Filorga Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. B. Grenfell regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Filorga Bale was charged with marring. Mr. B. Grenfell pleaded guilty to the charge, Filorga Bale is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
