Steward's Report
Inga Ross and Empowered were slow to begin.
Star Fever crossed to the running rail soon after the start, checking Reiko Houdini, Gardener's Boyo and Galilahi. Gardener's Boyo and Claretown Trixie collided on the second turn, checking Bright Blue and Gardener's Boyo. Bright Blue checked off Gardener's Boyo approaching the home turn. Empowered checked off Bright Blue approaching the home turn. Star Fever and Claretown Trixie collided on the home turn, causing Claretown Trixie to contact the running rail and lose ground.
A post-race sample was taken from Reiko Houdini - the winner of the event.
Claretown Trixie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Trainer Mr. M. Giddings was issued with a warning for leaving course with Claretown Trixie without permission of Stewards pursuant to GAR 42 (2). In arriving at this penalty Stewards were mindful that the greyhound was returned to the course, underwent a veterinary examination and it was Mr Giddings' first offence under this rule.
