Urban Bourbon and Airly With Grace collided soon after the start. Airly With Grace, Skittle and Spolly James collided on the first turn checking Airly With Grace and Skittle. Airly With Grace and Skittle collided on the first turn. Duke Of Airly and Macalister Tiger collided on the home turn. Urban Bourbon raced wide from the first turn to the home straight. Duke Of Airly visibily eased and turned its head in the home straight and collided with Macalister Tiger.
Duke Of Airly underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mrs L. Russell, the representative of Duke Of Airly, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Duke Of Airly was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. Russell pleaded guilty to the charge, Duke Of Airly must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
