Josie's Latte was quick to begin. Nadali was slow to begin.
Gemma Blue and Striving collided soon after the start. Striving and Max Voltage collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn. Minter Zoom, New Punchline, Queen Harriet and Gemma Blue collided on the first turn severely checking Minter Zoom, Max Voltage, Nadali and Queen Harriet, Gemma Blue fell as a result. Minter Zoom turned its head inwards on the home turn.
Queen Harriet underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left and right deltoids and trapezius muscle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to trainer Mr R. Reinke, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Minter Zoom was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Reinke pleaded guilty to the charge; Minter Zoom must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
