Steward's Report
King Colt and Dyna Garner were quick to begin.
King Colt crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking He Shall Johnny, Annie Lava, Kraken Dust and Extra Gear. Annie Lava checked off He Shall Johnny on the first turn checking Kraken Dust and Extra Gear. Annie Lava and Extra Gear collided in the front straight. Annie Lava and Kraken Dust collided on the second turn severely checking Annie Lava which raced wide. Vens Revenge and Dyna Garner collided on the third turn. He Shall Johnny checked off Dyna Garner on the home turn. Extra Gear checked off He Shall Johnny in the home straight.
Annie Lava underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right fore leg. No stand down period was imposed.
Vens Revenge underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr J. Clarke, the trainer of Vens Revenge regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. After taking into account the head on footage, and acting on their own observations, stewards issued the greyhound with a warning.
A post-race sample was taken from Vens Revenge - winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr B. Russo the catcher of the greyhound Extra Gear regarding an incident in the catching pen following the running of this event. Mr Russo pleaded guilty to a charge under 86(q), in that he engaged in conduct, which was detrimental to the image and welfare of the greyhound racing. Mr. Russo was suspended for a period of one (1) month, commencing midnight Saturday, 13th of July.
