A pre race sample was taken from Kimimela.
Punt Road Girl was quick to begin. Kimimela was slow to begin.
Zipping Atticus and Abstract Miss collided soon after the start, checking Abstract Miss. Zipping Atticus and Punt Road Girl collided approaching the first turn. Kat's Hughy and Kimimela collided on the first turn. Little Fernando checked off Bisenti on the first turn. Punt road Girl checked off Bisenti on the first turn. Kat's Hughy and Kimimela collided approaching the home turn, checking Kat's Hughy and Zipping Atticus. Cosmic Brew checked off Kat's Hughy in the home straight. Kimimela visibly turned its head, shifted inwards and eased in the home straight, checking Zipping Atticus. Zipping Atticus and Abstract Miss collided approaching the winning post. Punt Road Girl and Cosmic Brew collided approaching the winning post.
Kimimela underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer, Mr J. Forbes declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr James Forbes the trainer of Kimimela regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Kimimela was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Forbes pleaded guilty to the charge, Kimimela is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
