The start of this race was delayed by approximately 1 1/2 minutes to allow track staff to clear wildlife from the track.

New Cross Gate, Curlin' Merlin and Unrivalled Dusty were slow to begin.

Dim Sim and Gardener's Girl collided soon after the start checking Gardener's Girl. Gardiner's Girl lost ground approaching the first turn and was tailed off as a result. Unrivalled Dusty raced wide on the home turn. Don's Scolari and Curlin' Merlin collided in the home straight checking Curlin' Merlin.

Curlin' Merlin underwent a post-race veterinary examination - and was found to have an injury to the right foreleg wrist. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Gardener's Girl underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3, no apparent injury could be detected.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Gibbons, the handler of Dyna Saurus regarding a significant market move on fixed odds betting for the greyhound in tonight's event ($14 to $5). Mr. Gibbons stated that the kennel did not support the greyhound tonight and he was unaware of such market moves for Dyna Saurus. Mr. Gibbons was unable to offer much insight into the preparation of the greyhound for tonight's race as he was acting solely as the handler for the trainer Ms. R. Gibbons. Stewards noted Mr. Gibbons' explanation. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Bewley, trainer of Dirty Stella regarding the number of starts the greyhound has had in the past fortnight (4 starts in 11 days). Mr. Bewley stated Dirty Stella has been racing over the shorter distances and that the greyhound has a minimal preparation between race starts. Stewards noted Mr. Bewley's comments.
