Steward's Report
Crackerjack Gas, Billy Swagger, Manila Mist and Tat Nuggie were slow to begin. Billy Swagger and Manila Mist collided soon after the start checking Billy Swagger which tailed off. Bluey Can Fly and Manila Mist collided approaching the home turn. Bluey Can Fly galloped on the heels of Manila Mist on the home turn. Crackerjack Gas and Bluey Can Fly collided entering the home straight. Bluey Can Fly, Tat Nuggie and No Recourse raced wide on the home turn.
Billy Swagger underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was then re-examined following race 12, and was found to have mild dehydration. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. N. Mason, the trainer of Billy Swagger regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Billy Swagger was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Mason reserved his plea to the charge, Billy Swagger was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted. Acting under GAR 75 (1) Stewards directed Mr. Mason to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Billy Swagger in the event which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
