A pre-race sample was taken from Totolo.
Sunset Senorita and Totolo collided soon after the start. Why Not Lola and Ripplebrook Jess collided soon after the start. Ripplebrook Jess and Just Blacky collided approaching the first turn checking Why Not Lola and Ripplebrook Jess. Why Not Lola, Ripplebrook Jess, Red Queen and Chopping Spuds collided on the first turn checking Chopping Spuds which fell as a result. Sunset Senorita and Totolo collided entering the home straight.
Chopping Spuds underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected.
