Ruth's Girl was slow to begin.
Hungry Grub, Lightfoot Lass and Miss Laquisha collided soon after the start severely checking Hardaway George. Got Some Zip and Hungry Grub collided soon after the start checking Hungry Grub. Amber's Dolly eased soon after the start. Lightfoot Lass and Hardaway George collided soon after the start severely checking Hardaway George. Got Some Zip, Hardaway George, Lightfoot Lass, Miss Laquisha and Amber's Dolly collided approaching the 200m mark. Lightfoot Lass and Miss Laquisha collided several times from the 200m mark to the 50m mark. Ruth's Girl and Amber's Dolly collided approaching the 50m mark.

Amber's Dolly underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr G. Edwards, the trainer of Amber's Dolly regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Amber's Dolly was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Edwards pleaded not guilty to the charge, Amber's Dolly was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
