Steward's Report
Cloncurry Girl was quick to begin. Big Papa was slow to begin. Big Papa, Edna Betts and Dr. Chella collided soon after the start checking Edna Betts. Big Papa and Dr. Chella collided on the first turn. Dr. Chella, Big Papa and Got Goosebumps collided approaching the home turn. Dr. Chella eased in the home straight. Big Papa, Dr. Chella and Got Goosebumps raced wide in the home straight.
Big Papa was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left shoulder muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. McMahon the representative for the greyhound Dr. Chella regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Dr. Chella was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right shoulder muscle and right thigh, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) Stewards charged Dr. Chella with failing to pursue the lure with due committment by reason of injury. Mr. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge, Dr. Chella was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nominiation will be accepted.
The All Clear for this event was delayed to allow the Stewards to view the video replay after the position of the lure became closer than the required distance approaching the first turn. The Stewards permitted the variation to the specified lure distance as provided for in GAR 55 as no greyhounds were inconvenienced by the positioning of the lure (to close) and it had no material affect on the outcome of the event, the All Clear was given on the numbers 4 - 2 - 8 - 7.
Stewards spoke to the lure driver following the event who stated that the lure did not respond when he attempted to increase its speed resulting in the leading greyhound being to close to the lure approaching the first turn.
